Introduction

The importance of studying sea turtles in habitat different from nesting beaches is clear for sea turtle specialists. Regarding black turtles, important feeding grounds have been identified and studied at Baja California, but not yet in South Mexico.

Researchers from Universidad del Mar (UMAR), in Oaxaca, found black turtles feeding in the lagoon system Chacahua-Pastoría and now they are studying them. As part of these studies, satellite tracking will help to identify their favorite places into the lagoons, the time they spend in the area, and if lucky, subsequent movements.

The map shows points inland, because Beu was captured and realesed in the lagoon, she is still there.
