Previous studies have revealed that the island of Anguilla hosts a small yet locally important nesting population of leatherback turtles (www.seaturtle.org/mtrg/projects/tcot). The satellite tracking of this female leatherback is being carried out with local partners under the Turtles in the UK Overseas Territories project ( TUKOT). TUKOT aims to facilitate research and create awareness of the marine turtles and their conservation in seven UK Overseas Territories, including Anguilla.

This project is funded by the UK Government's( Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department for International Development ) Overseas Territories Environment Programme (OTEP) and Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
