Introduction

Previous studies have revealed that the island of Anguilla hosts a small yet locally important nesting population of leatherback turtles (www.seaturtle.org/mtrg/projects/tcot). The satellite tracking of this female leatherback is being carried out with local partners under the Turtles in the UK Overseas Territories project ( TUKOT). TUKOT aims to facilitate research and create awareness of the marine turtles and their conservation in seven UK Overseas Territories, including Anguilla.

Project Partners

The TUKOT project partners involved in this tracking project are Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources (DFMR), Anguilla National Trust, Marine Conservation Society (UK), Marine Turtle Research Group (MTRG) of the University of Exeter in Cornwall (UK), Conservation and Fisheries Department, BVI, and SEATURTLE.ORG.
