Introduction

In an effort to learn more about post-release movements of rehabilitated sea turtles, the North Carolina Aquariums partnered with the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, the NC Wildlife Resources Commission and the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Four rehabilitated loggerheads were released from Topsail Beach, NC on June 8, 2005 with satellite transmitters attached. The Wildlife Computers? SPOT3 transmitters are programmed to send location and water temperature data.

Through research and education, the partners involved in this project hope to inspire appreciation and conservation of North Carolina's sea turtles.
