Background

Lauren is an adult, female loggerhead sea turtle that nested on Topsail Island North Carolina. Before the satellite transmitter was attached she had just laid a nest under a set of stairs leading to a private house on the beach. Ninety-two eggs were relocated to a safer location. Lauren had a carapace length of 97 cm.

Lauren was named for a member of the family that found her nesting, who were vacationing on the island from Ohio.
