Background
This turtle was named after a community- wide naming competition in the local township of Borroloola. Over 40 entries were recieved and six entries were submitted with the same name, "karrubu". All entries submitted that it meant flatback turtle in Yanyuwa language. Two entries referred to it as poisonous to eat.
This turtle measured 87.8 cm curved carapce length and was 71.7 cm in width.
