Peanut

Duke Marine Lab Sea Turtle Satellite Telemetry Project in NC

A project of Duke University Marine Laboratory.

click map for full-size version
Peanut has not been providing many quality satellite transmissions, but thanks to her ultrasonic transmitter, we have been able to follow her movements closely and even get a visual of her several times. Peanut set up residency very near shore near Frisco and then moved to the backside of Ocracoke. The area is very shallow and full of sea grass beds. As the season progresses, we expect to track Peanut on her journey out of the sound and into warm waters for the winter. Perhaps when her movements increase we will get more hits from her satellite transmitter.
