Background

Lucky is 99.0 cm curved carapace length and her tag is sponsored by Curtis School. Since Lucky has not been tagged before, we will be learning where her home feeding ground is when she migrates at the end of the season.
Lucky was named and sponsored by the Curtis School, a private elementary school, in Los Angeles, California. More than 500 students ages 4 – 13 rallied together to name Lucky and they are all eagerly anticipating a summer of watching “their” Loggerhead sea turtle as she travels throughout the Gulf of Mexico and beyond. In addition, Curtis students have pledged to NOT bring plastic bags to the beach in an effort to keep all marine mammals safe from harm. The Curtis School wishes Lucky a safe and happy journey filled with many adventures. Bon Voyage, Lucky! We’ll be watching you!
