Background

YYG702 "Rowey" is a juvenile Kemp's ridley that was outfitted with a Sirtrack KiwiSat 202 transmitter and released on 13 June 2007. This ridley was captured during STFERL entanglement netting operations in Lavaca Bay near Port Lavaca, Texas, as part of a 2-year study funded by the Texas Sea Grant Program to examine occurrence and distribution of sea turtles in Texas bays.
YYG702 was named "Rowey" by the TAMUG STFERL netting crew, in honor of Dr. Gil Rowe, the Marine Biology Department Head at TAMUG and strong supporter of STFERL activities.
