Background
Qantas was found entangled in a discarded ghost net by Napranum Aboriginal shire council rangers located at Pennefather beach in January 2010. She sustained severe injuries to both front flippers. She was flown down to Cairns turtle rehabilitation centre by Qantas-Link and Australian Air Express. After seven months of veterinary treatment at Marlin Coast Vet Clinic and rehabilitated at CTRC by a team of volunteers, she was flown back up to Cape York and released at Pennefather beach where she was found.
