Background
This adult female leatherback (CCL 163.0cm/CCW 104cm) was tagged while nesting at Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge (SPNWR), St. Croix, USVI on May 21, 2007. The turtle, named Elaine, was recorded to returned to nest on SPNWR without her tag several days after the tag stopped transmitting. Elaine's tag transmitted for a total duration of twelve days and logged 653km of traveling distance. The first record of Elaine nesting on SPNWR was documented on April 19, 1994.
