Background
We are very excited about Kelly II's return to Keewaydin Island in 2012! Kelly II (otherwise known as Kelly) first nested on Keewaydin Island in 2001. She was seen nesting only one time that year; however, the dates of the four false crawls during which she was observed indicted she laid an additional 4 nests. She was back again in 2004, 2008 and 2010 when she laid up to four known nests in each of those years.
In 2010, we were able to satellite tag Kelly II (see "Kelly" on our track page for a link to her 2010 tracks). After completing her nesting in 2010, Kelly didn't go far before she established her post-nesting habitat off the west coast, just north of Keewaydin Island. We can't wait to see where she goes this year!
