Background

This turtle had a satellite transmitter attached at 8:40pm local time. She had a carapace (shell) length of 89.7cm and width of 76.1cm.

She was one of 136 turtles that came ashore to nest on the 2-km long beach that night.

This turtle was named by the members of SEEKS Inc. as well as by DEC staff (the name is after Shelley Taylor-Smith, the long distance swimmer). SEEKS stands for Save Endangered East Kimberley Species.

Photos of this turtle will be uploaded soon.
