Background

DR is an old friend. She has been observed nesting on Keewaydin Island since 1993. She returned to nest in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2006 and returned again in 2009. This year she was observed nesting on May 20, 2009 on June 1 and June 13. Over the years she has laid 28 nests in the Keewaydin beach. We have been able to assess 26 of her nests for hattching success. Collectively, they contained 3,045 eggs which resulted in 1,550 hatchlings reaching the Gulf of Mexico.

Please note: DR's tag transmits every other day. So, this turtle will only appear every other day in the emailed subscriber updates. Please be patient!
