Background

Aragana is a juvenile loggerhead (63 cm CCL) that was fitted with a satellite tag after being incidentally captured by a coastal bottom trawler operating in coastal waters of Uruguay, on April 4th 2011. Aragana (after “Haragana” which means “Lazy” in Spanish) took 18 hours to fully recover, and after that she was safely released at 34° 38’ S 54° 05,8’ W, very close to the town La Paloma (Rocha), Uruguay.
